Umbrella company contractors and freelancers may very well be among a new class of entrepreneurs who are of the belief that the current economic landscape will soon be improving.
Thanks to a recent study undertaken by a partnership between UK bank Standard Chartered and the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation, seven out of every ten entrepreneurs across Europe believe that the economy will either remain stable or improve by the end of 2010, though figures also showed that many believe very strongly that education entrepreneurship is in need of improvement in order to remain competitive in the global marketplace.
EO UK president and Quayside Group managing director Michael Conway commented on the findings, saying that it revealed the potential for new and existing entrepreneurs to capitalise on growth opportunities in regards to education. Mr Conway also said that the work in improving the economic landscape could begin very easily at home instead of looking once again to the powerhouse business models of Silicon Valley in the US and other related West coast success stories.
Lead researcher for the Global Entrepreneur Indicator initiative Sally Ernst commented as well, stating that the EO-Standard Chartered report mined a sometimes elusive class of highly successful business owners that are quite often out upon the cutting edge of economic recovery and growth leadership activities. Ms Ernst added that the information the study gathered, and will continue to gather in future reports, is sure to serve as a highly valuable economic trend prediction tool for governments and industry leaders alike.
Global Head and chief executive of Standard Chartered Shayne Nelson also commented on the alliance between his bank and EO, highlighting how committed they were to entrepreneurial growth particularly among younger business owners. Mr Nelson concluded by stating that working together with EO will allow the bank to share its extensive knowledge with entrepreneurs in regards to investment, in addition to providing much-needed support to business owners that will aid their desires to develop and grow their firms to new heights.
