IT umbrella company contractors will be relieved to hear that demand for IT professionals is still on the increase, according to the website CWJobs.
The website director, Richard Nott, said his firm’s latest research shows that demand has increased for the last six successive quarters, proving that the market is continuing to stabilise.
Last year saw steady growth in the demand for IT staff. In the second and third quarters, growth reached 8% followed by 5% in the final quarter of the year. Further growth is expected throughout the rest of this year.
However, despite these increases, job levels are still way down on the levels seen before the recession, he added.
Meanwhile, IT contractors might want to consider brushing up on their communications skills. ISACA claims that as well as technical knowledge, employers are increasingly looking for individuals who can demonstrate good people skills.
A member of the Association’s conference committee, Peter Wood, said social networking and personal devices are changing the landscape in which IT is implemented. IT personnel now need to show sensitivity and sympathy towards consumers’ working objectives, rather than simply laying down rules and drawing up limits.
Wood made his comments at a recent event for IT security professionals at London’s Earls Court.
