The UK could be about to lose a large proportion of its IT and finance professionals and, if that happens, there should be more opportunities available for umbrella company contractors.
Experis, the professional resourcing firm surveyed 700 professionals from the IT and finance sectors and discovered that nearly 50% of them have considered looking for a position overseas.
As industries globalise, professionals are becoming more open-minded and flexible as to where they work and if the UK wants to retain its strongest talent businesses will need to devise better retention strategies. On top of that, remote working is having a dramatic impact on the world of work. Most IT and finance professionals think a positive work-life balance is their number one priority.
38% of professionals in the IT sector expect to see more job opportunities over the next six months whilst 52% of those working in finance expect the number of vacancies in their sector to remain the same as they are now.
Geoff Smith, the MD of Experis, said individuals still say a positive work-life balance is the most valuable attribute in their job. Traditional working practices are not acceptable anymore and recruiters must adapt accordingly.
Highly skilled professionals looking for a position where they can enjoy flexibility and if companies are not prepared to move with the times, they could find that their top talent jumps ship and moves on to pastures new.
