The PCG has launched a checklist to help clients’ double check they have all the steps in place to ensure a project runs smoothly. It is part of ‘Britain’s Brain Gain’ series of educational resources aimed to help companies use the flexible working model and freelancers, such as those who work via umbrella companies, to its best advantage.
The checklist covers 12 key reminders starting with the need to ensure a signed contract or purchase order is in place and that objectives, timescales, deliverables and budgets have been recorded in writing. Clients are also advised to ensure a non-disclosure agreement has been signed by a contractor if they are likely to be exposed to sensitive company information.
Other key points include setting up lines of communication within the project team and ensuring all equipment is available and in working order.
There are currently around 1.4 million freelancers in the UK and together they contribute £82 billion to our economic output.
The PCG has also produced an expert guide on engaging contractors, freelancers and consultants. And contractors can download a range of freelance contracts from the PCG website.
