Tech companies to fulfil expansion plans over next 6 months

With a new survey discovering that 83 per cent of tech firms looking to fulfil their expansion plans over the coming six months, it could be an excellent time to be an IT or umbrella service contractor.

The survey, which was conducted by Intellect, a trade association, found that more than eight out of every ten tech companies surveyed were either likely or very likely to need new roles filled over the next half year. Two out of every three firms surveyed also plan to undergo expansion as well, according to the research findings.

Despite the good news, it’s not necessarily all roses. There are some who feel that there is not enough being done by the government to encourage the tech industry sector’s growth, such as Antony Walker, Intellect’s deputy director.

The economy’s performance in general, which has been unabashedly poor, has dragged down the tech sector, which has otherwise performed admirably. However, there’s no real indications that the government has any clue about what they’re supposed to do with the technology sector, as more than two thirds of companies surveyed felt that the government is basically just flailing about when it comes to bringing forward economic growth strategies that capitalise on the technology sector’s strengths.

Still, the next six months can only lead to good things for tech companies and the IT contractors they regularly employ, even if the rest of the economy continues to founder. Whatever the results, at least we’re not directly impacted by the eurozone crisis that’s rapidly growing to almost unmanageable proportions.
