Umbrella company IT contractors take note; office workers find problems such as emails and internet failures among the most stressful issues they face on a regular basis.
ECigaretteDirect.co.uk surveyed 800 people working in offices and discovered that 31% found breaking down email and internet to be the most annoying occurrence. A further 18% believed they had an unrealistic workload and the day did not contain enough hours for them to get through all of their tasks.
Third place in the poll went to the daily commute, with 14% saying travelling to and from work was the most stressful part of their day.
An ECigaretteDirect.co.uk spokesperson said most people just accept that the office environment is there without realising that it can be very stressful. It’s not surprising that internet malfunctions were considered most stressful. We rely on the internet for just about everything we do in the office and it can be extremely frustrating if we cannot get online.
11% of respondents said compiling the end-of-year accounts caused them the most frustration, whilst another 9% got highly irritated with people who turn up late for meetings.
8% were brave enough to say that their boss was the most irritating thing at work, and 6% blamed clients for their frustrations.
Only 2% said they felt frustrated when the tea or coffee supply in the office ran out and just 1% griped about a lack of equipment in the office.
