The AWR are due to be implemented next October and the REC is now getting ready to launch a wide-ranging support programme to help recruitment agencies and business leaders prepare for the legislation.
The REC will be delivering various new products and services over the next nine months, all of which are designed to provide the guidance necessary for clients, umbrella company contractors, staff and temporary workers to understand the new regulations. These offerings will include client packs, in-house training, sector specific briefings and webinars and they will build on the existing briefings, toolkits and workshops that have been available throughout the course of this year.
On Thursday 27th January, the REC will kick off the new programme with a webinar.
The REC has been having extensive discussions with the Department for BIS regarding the official guidelines for the implementation of the new legislation. These consultations have highlighted the challenges that will face recruiters when it comes to implementing workplace equality.
Kevin Green said the REC wants to minimise the impact the AWR will have on the recruitment sector and the aim now is to help everybody concerned prepare for implementation. There are only nine months left for businesses to get ready and the new support programme will help drive the process.
63% of the REC’s members feel they still need more information regarding the AWR and the new Support Programme will be in some part tailored around feedback received from members.
