Google’s new headquarters good news for IT staffers

Freelancers or umbrella company contractors working in the Information Technology field could see some good news thanks to Google’s new Kings Cross headquarters.

The search engine giant, which recently announced its plans to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on developing the 1 million square foot office space in London, should break ground in King’s Cross by the end of this year and will most likely be the most large-scale office development in the capital for a number of years. While construction contractors will undoubtedly benefit from such a massive building project, industry experts say that a global leader in online research and development opening its doors in the UK is going to create a serious knock-on effect for IT professionals looking for either long-term employment or shorter-term contract positions.

Developers Argent (King’s Cross) director. David Partridge, commented on the new developments, exclaiming that Google’s new headquarters will be a major windfall for bringing the developer’s vision for King’s Cross to fruition. In addition, the search engine giant’s relocation will undoubtedly act as a major catalysing factor for teh development of the coming phase of the firm’s plans, which could lead to the creation of more than 1,900 new homes and somewhere in the region of 35,000 new jobs, resulting in a much-needed boost to ameliorate the currently spotty employment opportunities within the capital.

Upon completion, the new Google office block could be as tall as 11 stories high and provide a prime vantage point of Kings Cross station.Once completed the office block will stand between seven and 11 stories and overlook Kings Cross train station.
