Entrepreneurial spirit alive and well in Northamptonshire

The best region for setting up new start-ups has been revealed to be Northamptonshire in a recent official Government competition.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills declared the Midlands county the winner in their Enterprising Britain competition, which ran for the last two years. The competition identified places in the UK that proved to be the best places to set up new businesses, discovering that technology firms within Northamptonshire were doing particularly well, perhaps due to the number of skilled and experienced umbrella service workers within the IT sector.

Business minister, Michael Fallon, commented on the new findings, indicating that the tech sector in Northamptonshire is home to a large number of highly successful firms that employ burgeoning workforces that contribute in a significant manner to the local economy. The Midlands county was also awarded additional accolades by BIS for working towards encouraging export business as well, primarily due to the excellent work taken on by a local authority enterprise partnership called the Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership.

One of the few enterprise partnerships of its kind that actually has set up offices on the mainland, Northamptonshire Empire Partnership is specifically tasked with building trade links with Europe in order to increase the export trade for local businesses.  BIS was especially pleased with the local authority enterprise partnership’s progress towards these goals, and encouraged further efforts to be taken not just by Northamptonshire firms but businesses from all across the length and breadth of the country.
