Highly skilled and qualified IT freelancers and umbrella company contractors will be in high demand this year, according to new industry predictions.
The newest Hiring Index from Robert Half Technology says that one out of every four IT business decision makers such as chief information officers have full intentions on increasing their IT department recruitment from now until at least June of 2013. Meanwhile, less than one out of every ten CIOs reported that their IT departments would be pared back and downsized in the same period of time.
62 per cent of survey respondents remarked with optimism about the rest of the year as well. This confidence was up in comparison to last year’s Hiring Index survey, where only 59 per cent IT department heads felt optimistic about 2012’s prospects.
Robert Half Technology’s managing director, Phil Sheridan, commented on the recent research findings, remarking that the IT recruitment sector has been exhibiting some noteworthy trends, especially as the lion’s share of firms finding it a challenge to find enough skilled and qualified IT contractors. The fields of security, applications development, and software development have been those that have been the most in demand, according to Mr Sheridan.
This could spell very good news for freelancers or contractors working with umbrella companies that have the requisite skills and experience for providing these IT solutions, especially since interim temporary workers are much less expensive to use on a per-project basis due to their flexibility and the lowered taxation requirement on contract workers.
