CEO and Founder of Crunch Accounting, Darren Fell, has released a post via Crunch’s LinkedIn profile explaining why he is “utterly delighted” that Rishi Sunak has resigned as Chancellor of the Exchequer. In the statement, Darren also explains why he believes Rishi should “never be allowed to come back to the reforming of this party”. Keep reading for more information.
In 2007, Darren Fell founded Crunch Accounting – one of the most recognised contractor accountants in the UK. It’s fair to say that the industry has frequently found itself on the back foot due to rules and regulations making it harder for contractors and freelancers to operate through personal service companies (PSC).
Shared via Crunch’s LinkedIn profile, Darren Fell has shared a short statement explaining why he is “delighted” that Rishi Sunak has resigned as Chancellor of the Exchequer and raises some interesting points. Darren Fell wrote:
“I have to confess to being utterly delighted at Rishi Sunak’s resignation.
I realise this is self-preservation amidst a crumbling Conservative party; this man has been responsible for more damage to the UK’s small businesses than any other in living memory.
The introduction of a supposed tax to marry contractors’ tax (IR35) to that of employees (which caused blanket bans on contracting) pushed numerous people out of work at this desperate time. Complications created by unnecessary red tape were followed by a complete refusal to find a solution or support limited company directors during COVID-19, despite companies like Crunch submitting simple calculations from past dividends.”
Darren Fell continues to explain why he doesn’t want Rishi Sunak returning to office. He said:
“Attack after attack on the self-employed were supposedly to recover more tax for the country – and yet the hypocrisy of it all is that he sat behind a blind trust with unimagined wealth, with a non-domiciled wife worth many hundreds of millions living at number 11 Downing Street.
This man can never be allowed to come back to the reforming of this party. Never to become Prime Minister and certainly never, ever to become Chancellor of the Exchequer again.
We will continue fighting for freelancers, contractors, and the self-employed; and hopefully, find a party that actually supports small businesses and not just the mega corps. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our country and the government is quite frankly ruining them.”
It appears that Rishi Sunak is one of the favourites to become the new leader of the Conservative Party.
