With the news that the government has announced its newest enterprise zone will be located in Cornwall, career experts say that the new initiative could lead to a surge in job offers for umbrella company contractors working within the aerospace industry.
Government ministers have estimated that Newquay airport’s newly-minted Aerohub enterprise zone could lead to the creation of as many as 2,500 new positions within the region. Many of these new roles are expected to be temporary positions ideal for freelancers, contractors, and other interim workers, and companies that chose to relocate to the Aerohub site will be able to reap the benefits of eased planning regulations, tax breaks, and other incentives, which means that there should be plenty of capital to hire on both permanent and temporary regional staff.
Mark Prisk, the business minister, launched the new Aerohub in an announcement at the Farnborough International Airshow located in Hampshire. Mr Prisk held the new enterprise zone up as a prime example of how government intervention in order to create such facilities can be integral to the stimulation of local business growth, which in turn leads to increased job opportunities.
Aerohub is likely to be a darling of the aerospace industry, according to the Chris Pomfret, a representative of the Local Enterprise Partnership for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, as the Newquay airport has one of the longest runways in the country. The local community was also lauded by Mr Pomfret as one of the most desirable places to live within the UK.
