Alisa VolkovaGood afternoon. We are moving into Brentwood at the end of next month and I am told the logistics are more complicated than I expect. Street parking is tight, the building has a loading dock with limited hours, and there is a certificate of insurance requirement from the HOA. Coming from a house where I could park a truck in the driveway, this is all new to me. What should I be sorting out in advance, and how much notice do buildings usually need for this? We are coming from Sherman Oaks, so the drive itself is short.

Konstantin EremeevGive the HOA two weeks of notice minimum, more if their board meets monthly, because the certificate and the elevator reservation both go through them and neither happens quickly. Ask your building for the exact insurance wording and hand it to the mover, otherwise you get a certificate that gets rejected on the morning. We hired a Brentwood moving company that dealt with the dock booking directly, which saved me a week of emails. Reserve the earliest dock slot available. Afternoon slots leave you no room if anything runs late, and buildings there are strict about the cut off.
