I’ve been noticing a huge crossover lately between the friends I used to play online strategy games with and the people who are now heavily into retail stock trading. It seems like the younger generation treats the financial market almost like a massive multiplayer game, complete with online communities, leaderboards, and rapid decision-making. Is it just a coincidence, or are modern investment apps intentionally copying elements from the gaming world to change how we interact with money?

I think it’s probably a mix of both. Many investment apps use familiar design elements that make them feel more engaging and accessible, especially for younger users. At the same time, online communities have made investing a much more social activity than it used to be.
